Today I’m going to talk about Pandemic, not the browser-based game, but the board game. To summarise, with the Pandemic game you have to work as a team to save the world from viruses that have broken out. As a player, you are a disease fighting specialist with the goal of eradicating the world of the infections.
How is Pandemic played?
You use your turn to take up to four actions; travel, treat, discover or research. A deck of cards offers you the chance of using these abilities, throughout this deck of cards is a twist however, ‘Epidemic Cards’ these have one job, increase the disease activity. A second deck of cards offers the chance to control the spread of the infections.
Each player takes a unique role within the team, these roles offer specialist strengths, for example selecting one role will mean being able to build research stations to help find cures. Others will provide a specialist skill to lower the number of cards to produce a cure.
What is included in the Pandemic game?
I usually don’t list whats in the box, but I think with the Pandemic board game, it offers some real intrigue! Have look and you will likely see what I mean:
